There it is buying up old properties in order to build further recreational apartments. It already owns the former Hotel Hela and the Úpa pub, and is negotiating for two more buildings.
Longtime residents are speaking out strongly against the planned construction. They point out that the new apartments will devalue their homes as well as the atmosphere of Velká Úpa.
„I believe we'll convince them that we're not evil developers from Prague who want to destroy their town. Because we really aren't,“ developer and insolvency administrator Jan Langmeier says in an interview with MF DNES.
