This year will bring construction of a parking garage as well as mountain apartments to the Trutnov region
As early as this spring, two large projects will begin operating in the Trutnov region. The Hradec Králové region has completed construction work worth CZK 100 million excluding VAT on a new accommodation building at the Barevné domky social facility in Hajnice, for people with mental and combined disabilities. The building is now being fitted with furniture and the necessary equipment. Clients will move in during January, with full operation expected from April. In a second phase, starting this March, the renovation of the existing main Barevné domky building, worth CZK 56 million excluding VAT, is on the agenda.
At the Domov sv. Josefa facility in Žireč near Dvůr Králové nad Labem, a new building has been completed, housing the very first „smart apartments“ in the Czech Republic for people with multiple sclerosis, along with a respite-care service. They are intended to help patients achieve greater independence. The renovation transformed a dilapidated house in Žireč into a modern pavilion which, from this spring, will serve patients with advanced-stage multiple sclerosis from across the country. They will come to Žireč for respite stays with rehabilitation. The CZK 92-million project is in its final stages, with only the fitting-out of the apartments and completion of outdoor barrier-free adaptations still to be done. It will be a further significant element in the transformation of the former monastery, once destined to be written off. Instead, it has been helping people with multiple sclerosis for 22 years.
At Trutnov Hospital, the Hradec Králové region plans to begin construction of a parking garage with capacity for 275 spaces, at an estimated cost of CZK 190 million. In the following years the region is planning construction of a new emergency department building and the associated ICU and intensive-care units.
„For more comfortable parking for patients, staff, and visitors to the hospital, we will build a three-story parking garage on the grounds. The new building will also include six charging points for electric vehicles,“ said Pavel Bulíček, first deputy governor for investment.
Vrchlabí Hospital, owned by the Penta Hospitals healthcare group, plans to complete construction this spring of a modern follow-up rehabilitation care department and a rehabilitation outpatient clinic with new equipment. „The new department will be created by rebuilding part of the hospital's lower building. It will be a very modern facility with the latest rehabilitation equipment for magnetotherapy and electrotherapy, including whirlpools, shockwave therapy, and modern laser treatment,“ described the project's director of Vrchlabí Hospital, Michal Mrázek. This investment will be followed seamlessly by the construction of a new follow-up intensive care department, expanding this service with additional beds. For the hospital, which is a private facility, this represents an investment of tens of millions of crowns.
Construction of a new special-regime care home for seniors with dementia, worth CZK 365 million, will also begin this year in Vrchlabí. It will have capacity for 34 beds and will be built next to the existing seniors' home. This is an investment by the Hradec Králové region, aimed at raising the standard of care provided. The project has a valid, legally effective building permit. The region is currently seeking a contractor through a public tender. „We expect that we could start building this April,“ Hradec Králové region spokeswoman Martina Svatoňová told Deník.
The Slovak development company KLM real estate, based in Bratislava, is preparing construction of a CZK 100-million shopping center in Úpice. It will be built on the site of the former Sychrov garden-center grounds and will be named Klokan. Under the same name, the Bratislava-based company is building retail parks in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. „The shopping center should house grocery stores, clothing shops, or a drugstore,“ outlined the planned mix of shops Michaela Matušeková, development manager at KLM real estate.
A huge billion-crown development project is being prepared near Pec pod Sněžkou. The investment group Aequitas plans to launch construction of the Rezidence Pod Portáškami Aparthotel in Velká Úpa this year. It comprises six buildings with 159 apartments, shops, and other facilities and services. „We expect to begin project implementation in the second quarter of 2024. Specifically, after the end of the winter season, i.e. after Easter, demolition work will begin, followed seamlessly by further preparatory activities and then the new construction itself,“ Lukáš Weigner, managing partner of the Aequitas investment group, told Deník. „Even though we have not yet publicly offered any apartments in the Rezidence Pod Portáškami Aparthotel project, we are already registering interest from dozens of clients and investors,“ he added.
Construction of another development project, Úpa Resort, which will offer 27 apartments, is also due to begin in Velká Úpa this year, while in Pec pod Sněžkou, below the dam, the Svatá Barbora apartment complex will be built.
